T.H.E. S.E.N.S.E. O.F. A.N. E.N. D. I. N. G.

Slowly it crept.
Like a sea of silence.
Like a blanket of deadly calm.
Like an ether full of unsaid words.
Complicated, convoluted.
Corrupting all innocence.
Polluting all gestures.
Numbing gradually.
Turning all warmth to ice.
And softness to frigidity.
Took me a while to realize.
The signs were everywhere.
But I had misread them in my rosy stupor.
All this while I thought a new dawn was near,
When creeping unaware around me was the sense of an ending.
