S.M.I.L.E.

It can kill.
Or give another lease of life.
Start another fire.
Silence a strife.
Speak a thousand words.
Hide a million desires.
Bring peace to the heart.
Or set the soul on unseen fires.
A sign of beauty.
Or a smirk of evil.
A song of welcome.
Or an elegy of farewell.
Brings joy to the present.
Gives memories to the future.
Feels like love in that moment.
And a thousand dreams for ages to come.
A knockout move.
A seductive groove.
Light in the darkness.
The softness in the hardness.
Your Smile.
Either you kill me with it.
Or you fill me with it.
Both ways I die a thousand deaths.
Both ways I need to catch my breath.
You smile and turn away.
I burn and melt away.
You smile and go on.
I die and wait for the dawn.
Hoping you will come back one more time.
And I will steal a glance at you.
Maybe another chance at you.
It only takes a while for you to beam at me.
And I savour and save that insignificant moment,
To last me till eternity.
Different roads we might take,
And separate destinies we might make,
But as I walk mile over mile,
I will always look out for your beautiful smile.

(Dedicated to all who brought smiles in my life.)

Somehow I felt I was a part of this journey..:)
Love you for what you are and what you will become....

Still remember your "journalist" look. All fits into place now.
Love your writings, somehow did'nt have the patience to understand them earlier.
Time flies, but also heals.
Age gives us wisdom and opens our mind to understand what has happened.

Thx...appreciated.Wish you would reveal urself.Because you seem to know me so well.Even if you dont, ur criticism and praise is welcome alike.

I like your open attitude. Ever thought of writing a book?
Btw i've revealed myself. I'm "A friend".

Seems like it won't make a difference if i knew you or not. Suits me.
Do you have any older writings/blogs, or did you start writing this year in May?

Witness said...

Suits me.Yah writing a book is in the mind. This is my first serious attempt to write poetry consistently on a public portal.

Would that be a book on your journey?
My personal opinion (not that you asked for it) is that you have a keen insight and a prolific ability to channel your feelings into words.
Although it can be painful, it is a gift. I believe i had it, but lost it somewhere down the road.
Keep going.

Appreciated.I dont know. Still have lots to travel before I pen it.

A Friend said...

So where do you like to travel?
Maybe we have visited the same places.

Witness said...

:)If you have experienced some of what I have written in my poems, then we have been to same places.I referred to traveling in both senses--to places and through life.

As i said, I "used" to take the surreal route. Then all of a sudden it stopped. Maybe it was the self defense mechanism taking over. Things started falling in place. Until, maybe now. There are things which need to be set right, however are beyond my own power.
Oops did i say too much.

So much about me.
The mood of your blogs seems to have changed in the last few days.

Witness said...

As in how?

A Friend said...

Well again my opinion, your writings do seem to reflect your state of mind. I would be scared to expose my thoughts in so much detail, but then again I'm not the poet here.
So you have a background in arts?

Witness said...

You can talk abt my poems and state here. They are open to discussion. And never done arts.

A Friend said...

Interesting.
So if you don't mind me asking you a couple of philosophical questions (the answers to which i don't claim to know), here goes:
Does one (in this case you) define their happiness through other people?

A Friend said...

The other question. What was your state of mind when I asked you the question:
"So you have a background in arts?"
One word will do :-)

Witness said...

No, I define it through peace. When I am at peace with myself, I am happy.

A Friend said...

Well said. I agree with you on this. The eternal question though is, can one be at peace with oneself if they are not at peace with the outside world.
Again, you don't have to answer any of my questions.
Some questions might just be a distraction (can't help myself sometimes).

Witness said...

No.To be at peace, we hav to learn to live with the world as well as without it.You go through the world to find peace. And not shun it.

A Friend said...

Well said again. Another question, which is a tricky one for me:
Can one be at peace if someone they care about is not at peace?

Witness said...

It's difficult especially if it's some one very dear.Maybe I can't tell you the way through it.

A Friend said...

Extremely difficult yes. To be fair to you, i was not really expecting an answer.
But it does seem that the answer to my previous question:
"Does one (in this case you) define their happiness through other people?" should be modified to "partially true". (Its true for me)
So are we on the same boat?

Witness said...

Yes, it's related but not total.

A Friend said...

So if dear ones spoil your peace, why get close to someone?
Although a lot of your poems answer this, maybe i'm looking at a reverse perspective. Have you ever tried being far from a person you care about?

Witness said...

Peace does not mean seclusion. You cant guard it.As I said, you go through the world to get it.Your dear ones maybe that way, your work, your life, all of it.And yes,I have been far and still been at peace.

A Friend said...

Ok..let me rephrase..
Been far knowing that the dear one was not at peace?

A Friend said...

sleepy already?
This blogger site seems to substitute chat. Hmm anyway if you feel like, my id is imafriendindeed@gmail.com (no kidding)

Witness said...

Yes, at times, not always.Because some part of your peace is just because of you.

Witness said...

ok.

A Friend said...

Hmm..i'll just have to live with the (hopefully short-lived)unease then.

This discussion though was stimulating (though short). Will try to pick your brains again.
Btw i did ask you a (related) question on your poem P.H.O.T.O.F.R.A.M.E.S.
